Autism Alert Card
Alert Cards, Car Stickers and the Autism Passport are available free of charge from the Community Access Team. The Alert Card and Car
Sticker are for people with an autism diagnosis and are recognised by Hampshire Police, Hampshire Police Authority, Hampshire Fire & Rescue Service and South Central Ambulance Service. They are tools which help ensure some one with autism can be identified and supported in an appropriate manner out in the community. The application form for the Alert Card is available to download here. Please return to Community Access Team, Suite 1c, Fairways House, Mount Pleasant Road, Southampton, SO14 0QB. Replacement cards are charged at £1.00.
The Autism Passport, with the permission of the individual will be linked into the Hampshire Constabulary’s Safety Net System. This will allow Criminal Justice System professionals access to information and strategies to support individuals with Autism during their journey through the Criminal Justice System and as a Witness or Victim of crime. Our partners involved in this are the Police, Police Authority, HMCS (magistrates), Duty Solicitors, Youth Offending Team, HM Prison Winchester and Probation. If you wish to have the Autism Passport, please call the Community Access Team on 023 8063 3951 to make an appointment with one of our Community Access Officers.
Autism Alert App
Autism Hampshire is very proud to launch the Autism App as part of our Autism Alert Programme.
The App has been produced in partnership with Crimson Tide and Premier Telecom. The App is placed on a Smartphone for you to use as a tool to support you in the community, whilst allowing you control to choose when you use it and who you show it to. The application form, which is personalised using the applicant’s own choice of information and answers, is available to download here or please contact the Community Access Team on 023 8063 3951 or firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
This project in partnership with Autism Hampshire and the Police is ongoing and is based on developing an autism friendly aspect to witness statements to ensure that appropriate and essential information is taken from witnesses who may have autism. This project page will be updated as the project develops.
This project in partnership with Autism Hampshire, Widgit, Southampton University and Hampshire Contabulary to develop and pilot easy read custody sheets within designated custody sheets in Hampshire to support people with autism who may find themselves arrested and in custody. The custody sheets give information including their rights and entitlements and information such as finger prints, personal possessions and searches. This project page will be updated as the project develops.
