Local companies and celebrities had a fantastic day at the 10th annual Shaun Udal Celebrity Golf Day at Sandford Springs Golf Course and Hotel on Thursday 2nd March 2017 in aid of Autism Hampshire.
The sun was shining and the teams set off to a shotgun start on the course which boasts spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding countryside before returning for a prize-giving dinner with guest speaker Jamie Pratt, who has a diagnosis of autism. The Ageas Bowl team took the winner’s trophy with a cracking 82 points, with second place going to the Hendy Group team. In third place came team Masuri, who also kindly donated prizes for the evening’s auction. During the post-match dinner, Shaun entertained guests while auctioning off several prizes including lunch for 4 with cricket legend Shane Warne.
Each year the golf day raises significant funds to help Autism Hampshire continue to provide services for children, adults, professionals and carers who are affected by autism in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. The day was a huge success and the final amount generated was over £10,500, which is a fantastic sum and is with thanks to the generosity of all the teams and celebrities.
Special thanks must also go to the event’s generous sponsors: Jellyfish Solutions, VMS Global, Peter Cooper Volkswagen, Barclays, Taylor Made Golf, Hancocks Cash & Carry and The Co-operative Food Sholing as well as all the other companies which donated auction and raffle prizes.
Shaun commented “I became an Ambassador for Autism Hampshire in 2007 after my son Jack was diagnosed with autism. I have seen first-hand the work Autism Hampshire does for children and adults on the autism spectrum. I can assure you that this money is not only appreciated but will be spent wisely to improve vital services for these vulnerable people.”
The celebrities who kindly gave up their time on the day were: Shaun Udal, Paul Jones, Matthew Le Tissier, Ian Baird, Chris Tremlett, Sean Ervine and Liam Crawford.
We would like to particularly thank and highlight the support that Shaun Udal has given to Autism Hampshire over the past 10 years. Over this period Shaun has raised in excess of £100,000 for the charity which is phenomenal. Thank YOU Shaun.
