Autism Hampshire is delighted to share that its West Hampshire DCA service has been rated ‘Good’ overall by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), achieving positive ratings across all five assessment areas: Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led.
Following an assessment carried out between 3 and 24 June 2026, the CQC recognised the service's commitment to delivering compassionate, person-centred support that enables people to make choices, develop independence and live fulfilling lives.
The report highlighted the positive relationships between staff and the people they support, recognising the team's understanding of individual needs and dedication to providing personalised care.
Inspectors also acknowledged the importance placed on supporting people to maintain relationships, participate in activities and remain connected to their local communities. From enjoying trips to the cinema and theatre to making everyday decisions about their lives, people were supported to pursue their own interests and aspirations.
Feedback from people supported by the service and their families was particularly encouraging, with relatives praising the kindness and dedication of staff.
One family member shared that staff "really go above and beyond", reflecting the positive difference the team makes in people's lives.
While the CQC identified some opportunities to further strengthen record-keeping and management oversight, the overall findings reflect the positive support being delivered across the service.
This achievement is a fantastic recognition of the hard work and commitment of our West Hampshire team, who continue to put the people they support at the heart of everything they do.
We are incredibly proud of everyone involved in achieving this rating and look forward to building on this success as we continue to deliver high-quality, person-centred support.
