Avenues is looking for a new Trustee

6th June 2025

Avenues is looking for new trustees to help shape the future of the charity - and people with lived experience are especially encouraged to apply.

Autism Hampshire is a subsidiary of Avenues, which supports people with complex needs to live full, meaningful lives.

Whether you’re neurodivergent, have a learning disability, have a relative with a disability, or simply want to help create a more inclusive society, your voice matters - and Avenues wants to hear it.

Why become a trustee?

As well as providing an invaluable service for an organisation and its people, becoming a trustee can be an excellent step for your career development.

Anyone can apply to be a trustee with Avenues. Avenues is a hugely diverse community of people and always want the trustee group to reflect this.

Avenues is also looking to have a balance of skills and backgrounds on its trustee group so they are currently very interested in applications from:

  • Younger people who may not have professional experience but want to make a difference - we will support their long-term learning and development as trustees.
  • People with professional experience in areas such as social care and the NHS.

Become an Independent Committee Member (ICM)

At Avenues, there are times when the board may need additional skills and expertise that its current members do not possess. This is when they appoint Independent Committee Members (ICMs).

An Independent Committee Member (ICM) is someone who brings a specific skill, experience, or passion to a committee or project.

ICMs work on behalf of the board, contributing to the future success of the charity at a board level without taking on the full responsibilities of a Trustee.

It’s a meaningful way to give back - and a brilliant opportunity to grow your own knowledge and skills. You don’t need professional experience to apply - just the commitment to make a difference and a willingness to learn.

Avenues is especially keen to hear from:

  • People with lived experience of disability or neurodivergence.
  • Younger people who want to learn and develop as future leaders.
  • People with experience in social care, health, HR, risk, finance or compliance.
