Update regarding our child and family services

For many years, Autism Hampshire has worked in partnership with CAMHS and the ICB to provide pre- and post-diagnostic support to children, young people and their families across Hampshire. We are very grateful for the positive relationships built over the past nine years and for the opportunity to support families at, what can often be, a challenging time.

Due to the reallocation of funding by the ICB and ceasing of a contractual service with CAMHS, Autism Hampshire are no longer able to provide the previously commissioned child and family support offer, such as parent and school workshops, post-diagnosis meetings and ongoing face-to-face support. A new neurodivergent support pathway has been developed and is being implemented by the Local Authority, in partnership with system partners, to ensure children, young people, families, and schools can access appropriate advice, guidance, and support pre- and post-diagnosis.

We recognise that these changes may feel disappointing and may cause uncertainty for families who have valued this support. We want to acknowledge the importance this service has had for many over the years – all the staff at Autism Hampshire are deeply saddened by this change.

Looking Ahead - Our Ongoing Commitment

Although the commissioned child and family service is ending, Autism Hampshire remains committed to supporting our community.

We are currently working to secure funding to enable us to continue delivering our telephone and email Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) service for families. While arrangements are still being finalised, our intention is to ensure families can continue to access trusted advice, signposting and support from our experienced team.

We understand that the period following diagnosis can be particularly uncertain, and we are committed to remaining a source of clarity, reassurance and practical guidance wherever possible.

As part of our wider support offer, the Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG) service for adults remains unchanged. We are currently updating our website to include dedicated resources and helpful links for families.

We have a questions and answers page to provide reassurance and clarity which you can find here: https://www.autismhampshire.org.uk/how-we-can-help...

We will share updates on our website and social media channels as soon as more information becomes available about the continuation of our IAG service for families.
