January's news and updates from Autism Hampshire

1st January 2026

As we step into a new year, we’re excited to share inspiring stories, upcoming opportunities, and ways you can get involved with Autism Hampshire. There’s so much happening and it’s all thanks to your support. Together, we can continue creating a more inclusive future for autistic people and their families.

Fareham service transforms lives

Our newest supported living service in Fareham is transforming lives. The modern development offers nine self-contained flats, giving residents more independence.

With tailored support from dedicated staff, residents are thriving - developing life skills like cooking, cleaning, and budgeting, and enjoying communal celebrations. Service Manager Ben Latona says, “If they’re happy, we’re doing our job.”

Volunteer and make a difference

We're in need of volunteers to support our charity shop in Fareham and our social groups for autistic adults in Basingstoke.

Our social groups provide a safe, welcoming space where autistic adults can connect, build friendships, and feel part of their community. At the shop, volunteers help raise vital funds that keep these services running.

Can you spare a few hours each month? Your time and skills can make a real impact! Find out more and apply here.

Podcast co-hosted by our trainer Sarah

We’re proud to share that Sarah, one of our lived experience Oliver McGowan trainers, recently co-hosted an episode of the All Things Mental Health podcast series by Student Minds: “Finding Balance as a Neurodivergent Student.”

Sarah explores how a late diagnosis reshaped her understanding of learning and identity, and shares practical strategies for building self-compassion and balance in academic life.

She also discusses her research into systemic barriers like medical gaslighting. Listen to the full series.

Thank you to Theatre for Life

In December, we were privileged to experience When The Clouds Come - a truly powerful theatre production exploring neurodivergence, dementia, and unexpected connections.

We were delighted to offer this performance free of charge to our members and followers, thanks to the incredible Theatre for Life team, whose work champions inclusion and meaningful storytelling.

We also want to give a big shout-out to Booker Wholesale in Fareham for generously donating food and drink to help raise funds for our charity. Your support makes such a difference!

It may be January but we can't help but share these festive photos from our Christmas party for the people we support. It was a wonderful day filled with laughter, festive activities, and good food.
