May's news and updates from Autism Hampshire

1st May 2025

This month we're bringing you our latest free resources, ways you can get involved and other exciting news from across Autism Hampshire and beyond. Thank you for being part of our community as we work towards creating a better future for autistic people.

Vital advice service contract secured

We've secured a contract to continue providing our essential Information, Advice & Guidance service for autistic adults and their families across Hampshire. Delivered in partnership with Hampshire County Council, the service offers tailored support through a helpline, emails, virtual meetings, and face-to-face appointments.

In January and February alone, the team responded to over 1,200 inquiries and supported 393 new individuals. This recognition highlights the difference the service makes in people’s lives, and we’re proud to continue this important work.

Our employee of the month

Congratulations to Rich Walker, our Serendipity Coordinator, who’s been named Employee of the Month!

Since joining in July 2024, Rich has gone above and beyond to support our Serendipity Community Groups, creating safe, welcoming spaces where autistic adults can connect and thrive. Inspired by his own experiences as a parent of two autistic boys, Rich brings empathy, energy, and passion to everything he does.

Thank you, Rich - and well done!

We're looking for volunteers to support our Serendipity drama group – a friendly, inclusive space for autistic adults, meeting regularly at Mayflower Studios in Southampton.

The sessions are fun, creative, and full of energy. No acting experience is needed – just enthusiasm, reliability, and a willingness to support others.

A sweet surprise from AECOM

Thanks to the kindness of AECOM's Southampton office, dozens of Easter eggs were delivered to people supported by our teams across the county. Small gestures like this make a big difference!

Thank you to AECOM for helping us celebrate Easter in such a thoughtful way and for choosing Autism Hampshire as your Charity of the Year.

Wearing purple for autism acceptance

A huge thank you to everyone who wore purple to mark Wear Purple for Autism Acceptance Day! From bold outfits to brilliant accessories, your support helped spark conversations and challenge stereotypes.

Every photo shared and every splash of purple shows the power of acceptance in action. Together, we're creating a kinder, more inclusive world for autistic people and their families.
