Jamie Joyce, an Autism Hampshire Employment Pathway Project Participant recently competed at the Special Olympics National Games in Sheffield 2017 with a great deal of success. Jamie, a swimmer, got 5 top 10 places, including a Silver Medal in the 200 m, Bronze Medal 100 m Free style and Bronze medal 400 m Free style . He got Personal Best times for all 3 medals. As he said on Meridian news 

"I have been building up to the Olympics all my life."

Jamie stayed in the Olympic village for the week based at Sheffield University, with his coaches. They had to get up at 5.30 am for breakfast everyday and then go to the pool by coach at 7 am. They had their own bedrooms with ensuite facilities and were away from their families.

Jamie has been swimming all his life. He has attended the Mencap National Finals every year since the age of 12, with Dove House School , with medals and excellent results. He is a member of Sharks Disability swim squod at Basingstoke.
